Sod Repairs Underway

We have prepped many small areas for zoysia sod, but the weather this past week has us in a holding pattern.  We hope the sod can arrive early next week so that we can put the finishing touches on the project.  

Winterizing Irrigation System 

In the near future we will be winterizing the irrigation system.  This will require that we drain the water from the pipes and use compressed air to "push" as much water out of the system as possible.  If you are playing golf during this process you will likely hear the air escaping from the irrigation heads.

Leaf Clean Up 

The leaf clean up process is ongoing and will continue until we've vacuumed everything up.  We have another blower on order and hope it arrives soon so that we can clean the course more efficiently.  The rain from Ida has made the ground too wet to hold up under the weight of the vacuum and tractor, but we will be fully focused on leaf removal as soon as things dry up enough.  

Frost Delays Ahead

Everyone is familiar with the fact that frost will be an issue from now until next Spring.  We will need some time to get ahead of golfers once the frost has cleared so it's possible that short delays will occur even if there is no frost at 8:00.  We will let the golf shop know the details by 7:30 and will give frequent updates as conditions dictate.  Our goal will be to get you on the course as quickly as possible.  

Practice Tee News

With the onset of cooler temperatures the zoysia grass has stopped growing and therefore divots don't recover.  For this reason we have shifted all practice to the mats.  It is a trade off for sure as we would all rather practice from the zoysia.  However if we waited longer to switch to mats, then there would be no grass for us to practice from next spring.  Please help us and your fellow members by hitting shots from the mats only.     

Help Needed !!!  

A foursome with four carts doubles the wear on the turf and greatly contributes to the expense of re grassing in the fall.   Sharing a cart cuts the wear in half and saves a great deal of money in the end.

Lately it seems as if very few golfers are following the cart traffic rules.  "Code Yellow"  is the cart policy that was designed to encourage people to share a cart.  If you share a cart you may use the 90 Degree Rule.  If you choose to ride alone and others in your group are also riding alone, then you must keep your cart on the path.  Another way of explaining it is : If you are the only single rider in your group, then you may leave the path with your cart.  If there is more than one single rider in your group then all single riders must remain on the path.   

Please help us, the course, your fellow members, and yourself by following the cart traffic rules to the letter.  It makes a big difference.

Reminder 

Remember to repair your ball marks and CAREFULLY rake any bunker tracks.  Also,  remember that if you have your own cart there are boxes of divot sand located at the 1st and 10th tees.  Please use these to refill your bottle when needed.  If you can fill your divots in the fairways we will take care of the divots on tees.
